Science at Veritas is the application of right reasoning to a study and understanding of the natural world. It is how we understand and learn about the universe around us, its systems, orders, causes, and purposes.

Veritas School's science curriculum is built upon an integrated, classical approach that seamlessly merges the natural and experimental sciences with the rigorous, wonder-filled methodologies of a Christ-centered education. It underscores Veritas' commitment to a superior science education that prepares students for advanced scientific study while fostering a deep appreciation for the intricate, ordered world God designed.

Over its 30 years of operations, many Veritas alumni have pursued STEM degrees and careers with great success! Veritas' rigorous, well-rounded education prepares students for college and graduate degrees in the sciences and to be leaders in their fields thereafter.
PURPOSE OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY
We live in a world of cause and effect, and a key element of scientific study is the study of effects and causes in the natural world. We study the effects around us as we observe, name, group, classify, draw, test, and compare.

Science is the study of the natural world God has created and placed us in. In contrast to the modern world's usual way of approaching sciences, the classical approach sees creation as something to be studied as a means towards growing wonder, wisdom, and ultimately worship. We study the natural world, not out of mere curiosity, but with studiousness so that we might fulfill our creation mandate to be good stewards of this universe we call home. ​
THE SCIENCE LAB
In 2023, Veritas installed our brand new, state-of-the-art science laboratory, a space designed to move students beyond textbooks and into practical experimentation, transforming theoretical concepts of biology, chemistry, and physics into hands-on discovery. We are profoundly grateful for the generous donors whose contributions brought this modern facility to life.

CLASSICAL INTEGRATION
In the Grammar school, the Veritas science curriculum introduces students to the awe-inspiring complexity of the natural world, nurturing a profound sense of wonder and building a robust foundation of scientific knowledge. The curriculum begins in Kindergarten with the study of the familiar and systematically expands through the Grammar years to add layers of complexity and detail over time.

In Logic and Rhetoric, students move beyond mere fact acquisition to engaging deeply with the "how" and "why" of the natural world. They connect modern study to the classical roots of scientific thought, examining contributions of major natural philosophers. Logic is central to this inquiry. Students will develop targeted hypotheses, conduct experiments, and articulate their results both orally and through formal lab reports. Utilizing skills honed in their Rhetoric courses and frequent Harkness discussions, students will regularly present complex concepts, problem-solving strategies, and solutions to their peers, ensuring they can effectively defend their findings and communicate scientific concepts with clarity and persuasive power.
INTEGRATION OF ARTS & SCIENCES
Art plays a significant role in all stages of the Veritas science curriculum. The act of sketching a leaf, painting a strand of DNA, or modeling a cell in clay forces students to slow down and meticulously observe details that might otherwise be overlooked in a textbook. This deliberate artistic engagement trains the eye to see the precision and purpose in God's design, transforming scientific study from abstract memorization into an interactive, creative, and discovery. As a result of these artistic endeavors, students not only deepen their understanding but also cultivate an appreciation for the beauty, order, and creativity inherent in the natural world.
